Peaceful Valley Park Charrette

The Charrette is an intensive design and planning workshop designed to stimulate ideas and involve the public in the community planning/design process. It is a valuable tool for laying the foundation for the development of a comprehensive plan, master plan, or strategic plan. In our case we will be designing formal plans for our neighborhoods parks-Peaceful Valley Park, Peaceful Valley River Walk, and Glover Field.
We need neighbors with a broad range of skills and backgrounds. Peaceful Valley residents bring a unique insight to the charrette process. Together, and only together, we can restore our parks and make Peaceful Valley a better place to live.
In addition to neighborhood input the charrette process will in list the services of interest groups such as; Friends Of The Falls, The Lands Council, Spokane County Conservation District, Washington Department of Ecology, Spokane Parks Department, Local Tribes, West Valley City School, Veteran Conservation Corps and anyone else that has an interest in this cause.
Charrette Meeting Dates, Location, and Times
Friday, March 28th. Peaceful Valley Community Center. 6-9pm
Saturday, March 29th. Peaceful Valley Community Center. 8am-9pm
Sunday, March 30th. Peaceful Valley Community Center. 8am-2pm
Charrette Schedule
Friday, March 28th. 6-9pm
12:00-6:00pm: Facility Set-Up, Site Photography, Material Coordination
6:00-8:00pm: Neighborhood/Landscape Architect Potluck Dinner
8:00-9:00pm: Park Team Meetings
Saturday, March 29th. 8am-9pm
8:00am: Coffee Provided by Thomas Hammer, and Kickoff Presentation
8:30-9:00am: Team Assignments, Organize and Planning
9:00-12:00pm: Park Team Site Visits (Issue Validation, Site Visits, Prepare Reports, Sketches, and Opportunities)
12:00-1:00pm: Lunch Provided by David's Pizza
1:00-6:00pm: Concept Development, Pin-Up Designs
6:00pm: Dinner Provided by Peaceful Valley Neighborhood Council (Italian)
7:00-8:00pm: Neighborhood Open House, Pinned-Up Concept Work on Display
8:00-9:00pm: Park Team Coordination
9:00-Whenever: Drinks and Reflection at the Swamp Tavern
Sunday, March 30th. 8am-2pm
8:00-12:00pm: Coffee Provided by Thomas Hammer, Final Conceptual Graphic Development
12:00pm: Working Lunch (Bring Your Own Lunch)
2:00pm: Final Pin-Up and Wrap-Up

Hi, I'm Jeff Crum - the Community Liaison for the Spokane Disc Golf Association. We are currently in the process of developing a Disc Golf course (with Parks approval) for the People's Park area. We're excited about this development. We would like to unite with you as we move forward with this positive project for the community.
