The PVCC came to our family rescue and allowed us the use of the facility for my daughters memorial gathering on Feb 7. In the 20 years I've been in the valley the PVCC has always been an important part of this familys life. True we arn't always "hanging out" there, but we know it's there when needed. I want to take the opertunity to publicly Thank Mark , Pam, Rick and every one else that keeps the place up and running. PV would not be the same with out it's center. For those of you who knew my daughter Shina, she passed Feb. 1 of liver failure brought on by drink. Please, if you MUST drink, do it in moderation. Someone loves you.

Vicki - thanks for posting this!
This looks like Bill Jone's old house. Especially when you said he rented for 30 years, and was a collector. of junk!
Ah, the memories.
You have made this house something special. Thank you for restoring it!

They are in there original state. This was the artist concept at the time.
Lets not mess with perfection
Art is so subjective. This work was done by John Tham one of our better known PV artist. Mr. Tham lives on Water Ave.
For those who think they are faded....... there is a statement there

Those of you who have the time and are interested. The North West room at the Main Spokane Librery has alot of interesting things to read and look at that pertain to PV. I was told the lady who runs or ran the NW room did her thesis on PV and the work is availible there. It has been a good many years sense I went through it all. Perhaps some one has the time to copy and post the PV colection on this sight. What a treasure that would be. In the mean time. It is well worth the effort to vist the NW room

In the twenty years I have lived under the bridge the only drug behavior has been occational pot smoking. There has been a bit of graffiti but not much. The tennise court has been used for things like bike polo and and batting practice. Yes it is not used offten, and it could use an up date. The parks department did a good job of reviveing the basketball court. hopefully they will do the same here. This little park is a plesent place. Shaded by the bridge in the summer and protected in the rain and snow. Childeren are offten in the playground that is right behind my house. Nothing like the sound of the laughter of childeren. It is interesting how many people move to PV because of the carecter and then set out to change it into something else. a little paint here and there. Open the locked bathrooms . Under the bridge is a great place to be.

So would all the other frights on ES's list.
It is depressing that there is still an audience receptive to this recycled 60s-era "economic democracy" (which is itself recycled marxism). But the incentives are obvious --- everybody wants a free lunch, and, unfortunately, many people are not too fussy about what they must do to obtain one. They will find almost any rationalization for stealing someone else's money and handing it over to them plausible. And since they have absorbed since childhood a whole corpus of nonsensical doctrines regarding the nature of rights, the structure of society, and the basis of law --- not to mention American history --- populist screeds like ES's go down quite easily.
I don't expect this latest collectivist free lunch scheme to pass (though I would not be greatly surprised if it did), but if it is rejected, it will be, unfortunately, for pragmatic reasons of the sort you mention. And then it will be resurrected in another decade or so by the next cohort of populist ideologues. What's needed is to root out the misguided basal beliefs which render it plausible to many uncritical minds.

This website talks about the importance of neighborhood art and a lot of other things:
Neighbors Project is a growing movement of a new generation of people living in cities who are bridging the gap between newer and older residents in our neighborhoods. We start by saying hi to our neighbors and take it from there.

Dear Matthew, in order to post photos one needs the Easy Edit button to appear on the page. Instead these pages say-Apply to be a writer. Therefore that aspect limits the way that folks can want to add to these pages. So-do we need to email everything to you and then have you post it? or are you going to open up the WIKI and let several of us add. Sincerely, Kathy Thamm
