This website is dedicated to Spokane's oldest, weirdest, and most unique neighborhood-PEACEFUL VALLEY. Throughout the years Peaceful Valley has undergone numerous changes. Right now we are in the early stages of yet another change. The people of the valley are claiming this land as their own, and WE NEED YOU to join the movement.

This website is more than just a source of information. It is also a WIKI site, which means you-the people of Spokane can put your 2-cents worth into this site. ReclaimPeacefulValley has been designed to share information pertaining to Peaceful Valley's past, it's parks, it's people, the health of it's environment, and it's future. Please click on the links to your left to learn more about the resurgence of the Valley and also to add your ideas, perspectives or stories to this growing network of neighborhood activists.

pinklloyd Easy Edit feature missing from this WIKI 0 Jan 29 2009, 1:32 AM EST by pinklloyd

Dear Matthew,
in order to post photos one needs the Easy Edit button to appear on the page. Instead these pages say-Apply to be a writer. Therefore that aspect limits the way that folks can want to add to these pages.
So-do we need to email everything to you and then have you post it? or are you going to open up the WIKI and let several of us add.
Sincerely,
Kathy Thamm

SteveHaynes Berms in Riverwalk West end of Water Ave 0 Jan 22 2009, 8:06 PM EST by SteveHaynes
Thread started: Jan 22 2009, 8:06 PM EST  Watch
I was recently contacted about removing the earth berms that were created during the near flooding event in 1998 at the rivers edge in the former parking area of the Casket Company. I informed them that this proposal would not require a flood plain permit provided that a habitat management plan demonstrated that the removal would not be detrimental to the existing flood plain. That should be pretty easy in my mind, almost a no-brainer. I have been hammerring on the Parks Department for a few years and am happy to see that some movement is perrhaps going to take place. I feel that this portion of the riverbank certainly does need some environmental help, as some of you know, but it needs to be done carefully and professionally. I just want to throw out that if or when the time comes to remove these dirt piles, the Parks Department should do this work for free since they brought the material in for free. Incidently, the berm does not work as a dike and probably would do nothing beneficial during flood events as indicated by the fact that last year the flood water was coming up from the end of Water Ave and made it to the intersection before it started to receed. Thank goodness that it did not get any higher.

Hi there neighbs-
Great potential for sharing here on the site!
I'm finding it a bit difficult to interact with & contribute tho-
Or do the Wetpaint features all require approval first?
(Sorry, I'm usually pretty good at figuring these things out, but I just don't see anything to click to upload stuff as indicated on Wetpaint's Help page, and it doesn't seem that these threads will accept HTML).
Anyone know?
Thx!
